Eugene Events for August
Oregon Festival of American Music
The Music of America In Hard Times, 1929-45
Oregon Festival of American Music 2008 revolves around the theme "The Music of America in Hard Times, 1929-45" and proposes that the great songs of "the Greatest Generation" were both a reflection and an inspiration to that generation's indomitable spirit. Travel with Ken and company through a broad swath of the wonderful music of that 15-odd years from New York's Cotton Club in the late 1920s and early '30s to the swinging 1940s sounds of the USO and Stage Door Canteen shows during World War II.

Scandinavian Festival

When:
10:00 AM - 10:00 PM Thursday - Saturday | 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Sunday
Since 1961, the people of Junction City Oregon have been celebrating their rich Scandinavian heritage by transforming the downtown area into a charming old world town. Offering cultural entertainment and activities in the authentic Scandinavian spirit, this four day event pays homage to the cultures of Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland.
Whether you prefer to participate or spectate, the Scandinavian Festival offers a variety of events for the whole family. Colorful costumes are highlighted during the fashion show, and storytellers and actors bring to life the tales of Hans Christian Andersen; and the ever-popular folk dancers are commonly caught with both feet off the ground. Noted as one of the festival's most spectacular features, these folk dancers travel from all over the Pacific Northwest to perform and instruct. Choral and instrumental groups, numerous stage events, and the historical museum tour add color and diversity to the Scandinavian festivities.
