The Cherry Poppin' Daddies
The Cherry Poppin' Daddies came together in the gray light of the pre-grunge dawn, when a University of Oregon chemistry major named Steve Perry posed a question to fellow musician friends: what if a punk rock rhythm section shared a practice space with jazz-schooled horn players and an equally trained keyboardist? The beaker-busting result made a stellar EP, sold out local clubs and soon drew comparisons to contemporaries like Fishbone, Faith No More and Bad Brains. It also irritated the local PC police.

Now in their 19th year, the Cherry Poppin' Daddies are poised for a whole new phase, starting with a brand new record.

David Jacobs-Strain
David Jacobs-Strain is one of those wunderkinds who is so young and has been honing his trade in the music business for years already. David recorded his first album while still in high school and was a faculty member at a local country blues workshop in his teens. Lately he's been touring the country, playing his sweet Delta-soaked blues to clubs, theatres, and coffeehouses. He's definitely a force to be reckoned with.

David Jacobs-Strain, a consummate finger-style and slide guitarist, plays in the blues tradition but isn't from it. You'll hear echoes of Skip James, Charlie Patton, Tommy Johnson, and a song or two by Fred McDowell or Robert Johnson in his solo performances. But as a modern roots musician, singer, and songwriter, "I come from the language of the country blues, but it's important not to silence other influences," he says.

Eagle Park Slim
sharing the stage with such legends as James Brown, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Sonny Boy Williamson, Percy Mayfield, Ike Turner and many others. He developed his sound and style learning from greats and playing his music at his mom's club, The Village Tavern, in Eagle Park, Illinois.

After playing for many years throughout East St. Louis, and across the river in St. Louis, with such masters as blues pianist, Johnnie Johnson (of Chuck Berry fame), Slim ventured out to Denver, Colorado. There, his Mile High Blues Band took the city and area by storm, belting out the real blues throughout the 1970s.

In 1980, the road called him again and he headed west to Oregon. While many places throughout the Northwest , like Seattle, hold a special place in his heart, he fell in love with Eugene, as it reminds him of his hometown in Eagle Park. He's made it his home ever since.

Eugene Peace Choir
In 1984, during the "deep freeze" phase of the cold war, two women forged their visions together to found the Eugene Peace Choir. One vision is of a compelling choral ensemble promoting the message of peace with the same intensity, quality, and power as the nation?s military choirs employ to promote patriotism, heroism, and militarism. Another vision is of a diverse, inclusive group of people, bonded together by joyful harmony into a mutual support system, embodying the concept of peace directly through loving, compassionate, respectful interaction. These twin visions have been two beacons guiding the choir?s existence all these years.

We honor the birthright of every human being to sing and to experience the harmony of different voices. We also honor the causes we support in song by dedicating ourselves to crafting polished, spirited performances.
