The Science Factory Children's Museum & Planetarium
The Science Factory Children's Museum & PlanetariumThe Science Factory Children's Museum & Planetarium is a member of the Association of Science and Technology Centers and the Northwest Association of Youth Museums. The museum is 10,000 square feet including the planetarium, classroom, computer laboratory, exhibit hall and meeting space. Situated in Alton Baker Park on over 4.35 acres of property, the Science Factory affords a wonderful opportunity for combining outdoor environs to its overall visit experience.

The Springfield Museum
The Springfield MuseumSituated in historic downtown Springfield, Oregon amid cafes, antique and specialty shops. Large colorful murals grace nearby buildings. The Museum is housed in the 1911 Oregon Power Company transformer station. Because of its unique architecture and its important role in the early utility industry, the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Springfield Museum hosts exhibits of art and historic collections in the Kathleen Jensen Gallery. The Historic Springfield Interpretive Center pays homage to the strong men and women who built a community in the valley between the McKenzie and Willamette Rivers.

Natural and Cultural History

The Shedd Institute
The University of Oregon Museum of Natural History was established to further the general mission of the University by enhancing public knowledge of the natural history and anthropology of Oregon and the broader world. Experience 15,000 years of Northwest cultural history and 200 million years of geology. Realistic environmental displays portray four geographic regions of Oregon, each a different time in history.

Wayne Morse Ranch
The Cuthbert AmphitheaterThis twenty-seven acre park of open space and natural wooded area was home to the man that has come to symbolize political integrity and service in America: Senator Wayne Morse. The park, house and picnic shelter is currently managed by the Eugene Recreation Services Division. The historic house is available for rentals such as business meetings, weddings, reunions special events and other group oriented activities. The park grounds are open from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. to the general public for nature walks and strolling.

Eugene Public Library
Eugene Public Library In 1893 a group of enthusiastic women formed an organization called the Fortnightly Club with the object of bringing together others interested in cultural pursuits. The first of their projects was the donation of an assortment of books and the acquisition of a vacant room in a downtown store building where they opened Eugene's first reading room. This project blossomed into a plan to establish a library. They succeeded in interesting Andrew Carnegie, industrialist and philanthropist, and with the help of private gifts and the City of Eugene, the project came to great success with the establishment of Oregon's first Carnegie Library at the corner of 11th Avenue and Willamette.

Lane Community College Library
Lane Community College LibraryLane Community College Library is the third largest community college library in Oregon, serving the educational and vocational needs of an expanding and diverse student population. The Library provides information support to over 50 professional and technical programs, noncredit programs and transfer degree options. The Morningstar Art Collection is a permanent exhibit of photographic art at Lane Community College Library. It was founded in 1998 from a bequest by the late Mildred John in honor of her parents John and Ada B. Morningstar. The collection consists of work by local and regional photographers from Western Oregon. The Morningstar Collection opened in December 1999.

University of Oregon Knight Library
University of Oregon Knight LibraryThe largest library in Oregon is the Knight Library, at the University of Oregon with collections totaling more than 2 million volumes and approximately 17,000 journals. Built in 1935-1937, the Knight Library is the largest library on campus, housing the Library's collections of materials in the humanities, social sciences, music, and business, as well as the library's special collections, government documents, microforms, and maps. The facade has been described as "exotic . . . a combination of modernized Lombardy and Greco-Roman with art deco details. The building contains exceptionally fine exterior and interior decorative work.
