In a city that has proclaimed itself "The World's Greatest City For The Arts and Outdoors," Eugene, Oregon has put a great many resources in recent years toward building a thriving downtown visual and performing art scene. With a thriving performing arts center that is home to several resident companies, including ballet, choral music, a symphony and theatre; and a newly renovated art museum on the University of Oregon campus, residents enjoy big city culture in a moderate-sized town.
The first Friday of every month has been set aside as "First Friday Art Walk" and participants tour several art galleries on foot, enjoying the opportunity to meet artists and community leaders and sample an unfolding reception as they stroll the comfortable distance between exhibits - rain or shine.
Below is a list of art galleries located in and around Eugene:
DIVA Center
The Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts (DIVA Center) is a non-profit membership supported organization. Our Center, is the manifest vision of a number of local artists, business people and community leaders acting as a catalyst for visual arts in Eugene, Oregon. This highly energized collaboration of volunteers has realized incredible success with the opening of a six gallery exhibit space and 60 seat screening room on the corner of Broadway and Olive. DIVA has become the hub of downtown classes, film programs, performances, events and exhibits.

Eugene Glass School
The Eugene Glass School's (EGS) 10,000 square-foot facility, located in the
so-called "glassblowing capitol of the world" - Eugene, Oregon - was
designed and customized by sixth-generation glassblowers Karl and Hans
Ittig. These German experts spent months preparing and installing our unique
studio classrooms with the help of Josch Borz, German furnace expert, who
constructed our new custom glass furnace and Vince Thomas of Northwest Iron
Works who assisted Mr. Borz through the process of completing the hot shop.
Our fusing shop has many features, including a new furnace with a heat re-cooperation system that preheats incoming air with the exhaust from the furnace, allowing for a very comfortable working environment during our frequently chilly Eugene weather. We also have a huge selection of color and two new Taurus ring saws (kindly donated by Gemini). Our fusing shop has evolved dramatically, as well as the students and staff that have been involved with it. The artwork being produced in the classes is incredible. Feel free to drop by the school to find out what's new in our fusing studio.
